Bottles of Hope Campaign
Our newest event is our campaign to donate 1,000 Bottles of Hope to our local and regional
Cancer centers. Our campaign has seen many of our community and region involved in creating these
Bottles of Hope, as a community effort to give love and hope to those we know undergoing cancer treatments.

Poetry Readings
Our annual poetry reading this year on August 21, 2011 provides attendees with a wonderful opportunity to hear
Anders Carson, Audrey Ogilvie and guest poets read from their latest works. All are published poets and
we are happy to display their books and cd’s which are also for sale.

Meet the Artist
Our program to introduce our artists to our customers in past summers has been a great success. Despite some
rather showery days, our artists sat on our lawn in a shady tent and painted, created pottery, turned wood
and made jewelry, among other artistic endeavours. The interaction between the artist and the public helps to create
understanding and also gives the customer a peek into the creative mind of the artist. Many onlookers were
delighted to watch , and our artists also benefited from talking with potential customers and telling them
about their work.
We will again be presenting our artists at our annual Meet the Artist Days in 2011. Beginning with Dawn Burnham,
Potter, on June 18, followed by Miranda Scott, goldsmith, and Aili Kurtis, painter, on June 19, we will also have
Shirley Mancino on July 3, and Ann Gruchy on July 10.
All our Meet the Artist days begin at 11 am and finish around 4 pm. Please come and join us.

Our Fourth Year is Beginning!
To celebrate the beginning of our fourth year in Westport, we have a special guest, Fred Barrett, a local
astronomer who will bring his telescope and photos to introduce us to the wonders of the sun. Interesting
details about the sun and its affect on our weather, also how sun spots and flares create the amazing patterns
we know as aurora borealis. Join us on Summer Solstice Day, June 21, 2011 for this special event.
Throughout the week from June 21 - 27, 2011, we will be celebrating with specials for you!
